How We Review and Rate

When we research products and services for inclusion in our Reviews, we make every attempt to gather as much information as possible. In many cases, that means we actually try out the product or service ourselves. That's not always possible or practical, however, so in some cases, our experience is limited to studying documentation available from websites, technical manuals and tutorials. Regardless of the approach required, we don't publish the review until we get a complete picture of the product or service.

Just as importantly, our research covers the experiences of actual users. Those who are satisfied with the product or service, and those that are not. We work hard to bring you an unbiased evaluation that you can rely on for accuracy and fairness.

That said, we urge you to conduct your own thorough investigation of any product you see reviewed on our site. Companies and Providers change. New versions get released. Ultimately it will be your money that gets spent, so it's up to you to insure you're getting the best return on your investment. Our intent is simply to provide a single source of information to get you started on your own research.

Do We Receive Consideration for Our Reviews?

We are not paid to run these reviews.

In some cases, the links we provide so you can get more information about a product or service are affiliate links. If you click on one of these links, visit the provider's site and then purchase the product through that connection, we receive a commission.

Earning commissions from affiliate programs is one of the ways we are able to provide the useful content of this site to you for free. That's also why we display advertisements on our site. It's the business model we chose because we determined that we could reach a wider audience and benefit more people if we kept the content free.

What we believe to be most important to you about our use of affiliate programs and advertising is the question of whether or not our reviews are influenced by these programs. In other words: Can You Trust Us?

We believe so, for at least two reasons...

First, our choice of the products to review and the ratings we provide are not based on how much commission we might make. We seek out the best-of-breed products first and conduct our review independently. Only after that's complete, do we investigate to see if the vendor offers an affiliate program.

Second, in every case, we provide complete contact details on the vendor. If you prefer not to use our link to reach the vendor's website, you have all the information you need to bypass us and reach it directly.

We work hard to provide you with honest, informative evaluations. If you do decide to use our links, we think it's a way of saying you appreciated the content and found it helpful. But always, we believe that is, and should be, your choice. That's why we freely disclose our business model, unlike many other sites that carry reviews.
